Welcome to Year 3!
Find out what your child will be learning this academic year.
The teachers in Year 3 are Miss Worthington (class teacher 3W) and Mrs Reed and Miss Walker-Smith (class teacher 3RWS). The teaching assistants in Year 3 are Mrs Smith, Mrs Drake and Miss Johnson. In Year 3 the children are encouraged to listen to, and learn from one another.
We ask all children to respect each other’s ideas and opinions and always try their best. In Y3 all children have a reading book and reading record, we are encouraging all children to read 4 times per week. Each child has been provided with a bookmark with reading prompts, we are really keen for children to enjoy their reading and this opportunity to talk to you about their book. Please send your child’s reading book into school every Friday, and when it needs changing. Y3 children will also have access to the school library and will be supported in choosing their own library books.
This will be set at the start of each term and will link to the project being taught in school. Your child will be given a selection of activities to complete and can choose which ones they would like to try. Please help your child with their home learning, and support them to complete it independently.
We ask that PE kits (white t-shirt, black shorts and pumps) are brought in at the start of each term and left in school until the end of term. PE is on a Tuesday.
Children have access to fresh water all day, they are able to fill up their water bottles with fresh water when they come in first thing in the morning. Bottles are then kept in boxes behind your child’s seat.
Your child is important to us so if you have any questions or concerns please speak to a member of the Year 3 team before or after school.
