Welcome to Year 3!
Find out what your child will be learning this academic year.
This year there are three Year 3 classes 3H, 3M and 3W. The teachers in Year 3 are Mrs Hammond (class teacher 3H), Mr Martin (class teacher 3M) and Miss Worthington (class teacher 3W). The teaching assistants in Year 3 are Mrs Smith and Mrs Holloway. Mrs Young (Assistant Head Teacher) will be teaching in both Year 3 and Year 4 and is responsible for these year groups. In Year 3 the children are encouraged to listen to, and learn from one another.
We ask all children to respect each other’s ideas and opinions and always try their best. In Y3 all children have a reading book and reading record, it would be really helpful if the records are signed and dated with the page number each time you hear your child read so we know when the books need changing. We expect the children to read for 20 minutes every night. Y3 children will also have access to the school library and will be supported in choosing their own library books.
This will be set at the start of each half term and will link to the project being taught in school. Your child will be given a selection of activities to complete and can choose which ones they would like to try. Any help you can give your child in completing the home learning will be greatly appreciated and please feel free to add your own contributions.
We ask that PE kits (white t-shirt, black shorts and pumps) are brought in at the start of each half term and left in school until the end of half term.
Children have access to fresh water all day, they are able to fill up their water bottles with fresh water when they come in first thing in the morning. Bottles are then kept in boxes behind your child’s seat.
Your child is important to us so if you have any questions or concerns please make an appointment with Mrs Hammond (3H), Mr Martin (3M) or Miss Worthington (3W) for before or after school.
